Josh Lucas For Star Trek

Star Trek casting rumors are nearly getting as tiresome as JLA rumors, but at least the Trek cast is nearly filled and we’ll soon be able to put this whole thing to rest. So far, we have the primary crew of Kirk & company and we have a villain being played by Eric Bana. Recent rumors have suggested that the Enterprise’s pre-Kirk commander may play a larger role in the film, and now we have the latest casting gossip on who might be up for that.

The claim that they are hearing disembodied voices, and those mysterious voices are telling them that Josh Lucas might be up for the part of Christopher Pike. Even if their rumormongers are right, he’s only being considered for the part so this is pretty shaky news at best. Still, it does make a certain amount of sense. Word for some time has been that JJ Abrams and company wanted a “name” for the part, which is why at one point Tom Cruise was rumored to be on their “want” list for the Pike role.

Actually Josh Lucas really would be perfect for the part. He’s not exactly and A-lister, but he’s a recognizable face that when combined with Bana gives the film some decent star power and more importantly another pretty good actor in a pivotal role. Don’t know if this will end up being true, but it seems like a good idea. Probably not a bad idea for Lucas either, who was last seen in Poseidon and could probably use a pick-me-up after sinking in that stinker.
