Underworld 3 Happening As A Prequel

That rascally strike has resulted in the greenlighting of another awful movie. At least that’s my theory. I thought we'd all collectively agreed that this Underworld thing had run its course? No? Because HR says Underworld 3 has been given the go ahead, and it’ll be a prequel.

They’re calling it Underworld 3: The Rise of the Lycans. I can’t help but wonder if there was a Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines poster hanging on the wall somewhere near the cubicle of the guy who came up with it.

The bad news, aside from the fact that this is being made, is that it’s being made without Kate Beckinsale. She’s having nothing to do with it. Similarly her husband Len Wiseman, who directed the first two films, will step back and take a producer credit for this one while creature effects creator Patrick Tatopoulos takes the helm. Michael Sheen however, will be back as Lycan head honcho Lucian. Also involved will the great Bill Nighy, who was probably the best thing about the franchise so far. New to the cast is Rhona Mitra, playing Viktor’s daughter and secret lover of Lucian.

The film will follow the storyline hinted at in the first movie. Set in the Dark Ages, it will tell the tragic and terribly romantic tale of the Lycan/werewolf Lucian who falls in love with a vampire princess. There’s potential here for something good, both Sheen and Nighy were great in the first film and the flashbacks we saw of this era in their history were interesting. But Underworld 2 was awful and this feels like a franchise that’s already run out of steam.

Wonder Woman Is A Blonde

I’m flat out sick of reporting on Justice League of America casting rumors. The movie sounds like it’s going to be a second tier, replacement actors, teen superheroes flick and it’s being directed by a guy who thinks it’s such an important project… that he’s shooting two other movies simultaneously with it. There’s no way JLA is going to be any good, and we’re all wasting our time by paying attention to it.

Still, I guess it’s my job to report this stuff, no matter how much it beats me down. So I’m just going to spit this latest casting rumor out and be done with it. An actress named Teresa Palmer may have been cast as Wonder Woman in JLA, according to Moviehole. They seem pretty certain about it, so maybe this is it and we can stop reporting on at least this role. Thank god.

Teresa played the blonde girl Vanessa in The Grudge 2. She’s mostly done bit parts in movie’s you’ve seen, or bigger parts in movie’s you haven’t. She’s 21 years old and 5’5” which makes her too young and too short to play Wonder Woman… if Warner Brothers was making a movie that was at all faithful to the characters rather than a film designed to sell discount boxes of cereal. Sadly, it’s the latter that’s going on here and not the former.

Aliens + Predator

The title for the new Aliens vs. Predator may be somewhat misleading. It seems that what they actually mean is Aliens + Predator.

USA Today has been gifted with a gallery of images from Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem, which show off a brand new creature created for the face-off sequel. It’s called the “predalien”, and as its name suggests the guys in their creature shop went nuts and started sticking alien parts on a predator. They’ve combined the two creatures into a new monstrosity, and I guess they aren’t all that interested in keeping it a secret.

Along with the images they include some predalien fun facts. For instance they reveal that the predalien doesn’t lay eggs which produce face huggers, it just regurgitates in its victim’s mouth. Apparently the face hugger-less predalien leads a pack of creatures to a small Colorado town to fight humans and predators. So it looks like there won’t be so many actual Aliens for the predator to fight in this one. Just mutant freaks.

Personally, I’m not that impressed with this combo creature. Mostly, it looks like a predator with a tail. I’ve posted a couple of the predalien images with this story, but to see them all click over to USA Today.

Channing Tatum Steps Up For Sequel

Fans who were devastated to find out that Step Up 2 wouldn’t feature Channing Tatum or Jenna Dewan can cheer up now. It appears at least one member of the original cast is putting in an appearance, although it may not be more than a glorified cameo. Apparently Touchstone is more than aware of fans dedication to the beautiful people who headlined their first picture, so Channing Tatum’s Tyler Gage will be in the movie.

In fact, not only is Tatum in the movie, he kicks off the new trailer for the movie, now titled Step Up 2 The Streets (it works as both a sequel number and part of the title – get it?). Before the sequel’s real story or cast members are shown, Tatum gets to break loose with some dance moves himself. After talking to Briana Evigan’s character briefly (thereby passing the proverbial torch), he’s gone, leading to that assumption about a cameo appearance.

The trailer is up over at Apple and is actually worth catching on the big screen. Much like the first film, the picture looks promising for dance numbers and music, although I wouldn’t count on much of a plot. Of course, the first one didn’t have much of a plot either and it was still a lot of fun.

Third Golden Compass Featurette Coming

It's time for the witches to get into the center of attention now. New Line Cinema has brought in a new featurette for its upcoming fantasy "The Golden Compass" which takes focus on the group, particularly their queen, Serafina Pekkala.

Titled "Flying with Witch" and available on MSN Video, the featurette is also able to be reached through a link on AceShowbiz's The Golden Compass Trailer page. Content includes the interviews with writer/director Chris Weitz and actress Eva Green, who plays Serafina, plus behind-the-scene footage of the flying sequences.

Set for a December 7, 2007 release in theaters nationwide, "Compass" is based on the first book in Phillip Pulman's "His Dark Materials" trilogy. Regarding the name of Serafina Pekkala, Pullman was learned to originate it when he browsed through a Finnish telephone directory.

More New Footage in Fifth Beowulf TV Spot

Four seem to be far from enough if talking about Robert Zemeckis' forthcoming epic "Beowulf." Already had four TV spots launched, the motion-capture flick now comes with a fifth one on the net, which should delight fans who still want to get more look on it.

Placed on downloads.paramount.com, the new TV spot is available in QuickTime in low, medium, and high resolution. It can also be accessed via Beowulf Trailer section at AceShowbiz.

Though largely presents footage you have viewed before, there are indeed glimpses of few never-before-seen shots featured here, particularly at the end of the clip where a man jumps to put long cut down a dragon's body.

Hitting both conventional and IMAX theaters on November 16, 2007, "Beowulf" uses similar photo-realistic version of the "performance capture" technique Zemeckis applied in his 2004 work "The Polar Express." Story is adapted from an Anglo-Saxon epic poem about the titular hero who must fight and defeat a monster named Grendel also his mother, who begins killing out of revenge.

Michelle Williams Nabs Acting Slot in Drama Flick Mammoth

Manages to keep herself busy with a series of upcoming big screen features, Michelle Williams next is poised to play the female lead in drama movie "Mammoth", Variety has revealed.

The beauty thereby will team up with Gael Garcia Bernal as a New York couple in crisis. Pic marks the first English language debut of Swedish filmmaker Lukas Moodysson, known for his 1998 work in "Show Me Love" which won him a Teddy Award in the 1999 Berlin International Film Festival.

Shooting is slated to be commenced on November 5 this year in Thailand before moving to Philippines, Sweden, and New York. Moodysson also penned the screenplay with Lars Jonsson producing and Peter Garde executive producing.

Williams, a native of Kalispell, Montana, broke into her stardom through teen series "Dawson's Creek" and later reached her highlight in film industry when she landed an Oscar nomination for best supporting actress last year for her role in "Brokeback Mountain." First Shots from Harry Potter 6 London Set!

Initial pictures from the movie set of "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" in London have finally arrived on the net, capturing two principal cast members Daniel Radcliffe and Michael Gambon, courtesy of Just Jared.

The twosome were caught sharing a laugh during a shooting break for scenes at the home of Horace Slughorn, played by Jim Broadbent, in Budleigh Babberton. Sequence filmed reportedly saw Harry and Dumbledore convince the former Potions Master to return teaching at Hogwarts after his retirement in 1980s.

Shots taken funnily spot Gambon, who reprises his role as the Hogwarts' headmaster, wearing a beard protector while also surprisingly reveal the actor to be a smoker. Radcliffe, in the meantime, was seen without the glasses he is enticed to put on in his role as the bespectacled teen wizard.

The sixth installment of the "Harry Potter" film series, "Half-Blood Prince" brings back David Yates on the director's chair with a scheduled theatrical release on November 21, 2008. Author of the original book series J.K. Rowling recently unveiled shocking statement saying Dumbledore is gay, adding she has already passed a note to Yates upon finding a reference in the film's script to a girl who once was of interest to Dumbledore.

Jennifer Lopez's "Deseo" Perfume Ad

Leaving the persistent pregnancy speculation for latter, Jennifer Lopez is coming out with her yet another fragrance. The multi-talented beauty is coming out with her ninth fragrance in five years "Deseo," which is the Spanish for "Desire," due out February next year.

On the use of the Spanish term to name the perfume, Lopez explained "I have a lot of synergy happening in my life right now that is taking me back to my roots and to everything that I'm about and how I was raised. This is what I really find my heart is into. It's the first time I have decided to use a Spanish word for one of our fragrances. We really look at where I am at in my life and what is important to me at that time. But the one thing that we have always concentrated on from the beginning is to be as truthful as we can."

The scent, which has been developed in collaboration with Givaudan perfumers Ellen Molner and Jim Krivda, according to WWD.com is a mixture of bamboo leaves, garden yuzu, Sicilian bergamot and freesia. The theme, which was inspired by a night-time walk through J-Lo's garden, continues in the middle notes of star jasmine, pink geranium flower, orange blossom and French mimosa. The base notes finish with warm amber, oak moss, musks, sandalwood, atlas cedarwood, patchouli and mineral accord.

"Deseo" will be available in two sizes, 1.7 oz. and 3.4 oz. and will cost $46 and $56 respectively. There will also be a body lotion which will cost $27.50 for 6.7 oz.

Also hinted on the possibility to create the masculine counterpart of "Deseo," Lopez furthermore revealed "I've always known that I wanted to launch a fragrance for men...Since Deseo is all about desire and sensuality, it seems perfect to develop a male counterpart for it". The fragrance for men will thus be Lopez's first masculine fragrance should it come to realization.

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi Are Still Very Much Together

Not true. Recent reports on Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi have split are false.

A publicist for the talk show host has put to rest those false reports and has confirmed that the same-sex couple is still very much together.

"If you believe these 'reliable sources' Ellen and Portia have also had several weddings, adopted a baby AND are pregnant," Ellen's representative said Friday October 26th.

Reports on Ellen and Portia's break up were made public by Star and the Chicago Sun-Times. The publications claimed "the pair's 15 year age difference is having an effect" while quoted a source as saying "Portia has been telling Ellen she's very unhappy at home. When it comes down to it, she wants to be with someone younger ad hotter. She wants out, but Ellen has been begging her to stay. Portia is really everything in this world to her."

Spice Girls Signed Up as the New Faces of Supermarket Chain Tesco's

It's going the way it's going. Hot on the heels of their reunion, Spice Girls keep working their way up the industry ladder as if nothing could let them down in anyway. In addition to their new album and world tour, the girls have signed up as the new faces of supermarket chain Tesco's.

A spokeswoman for the retailer confirmed that the Spice Girls had filmed two Christmas adverts for the supermarket, which are said to be intended to give "a glimpse into what Christmas with the Spice Girls might be like".

Their venture to front Tesco's ads reportedly earn the fivesome; Victoria Adams, Melanie Brown, Melanie C, Geri Halliwell, and Emma Bunton, a cool 1million pound sterling each.

One of the commercial, as seen on the left side of the news, sees the recently reunited group in seasonal cheer, gathered around a table laden with Christmas goodies.

A Tesco spokesman said they are "thrilled to be working with the Spice Girls for our Christmas campaign" adding that "We feel that the new commercials really emphasize Tesco's commitment to offer something different and exciting this Christmas."

Britney Spears' Mother Writing on a Memoir

Rapper T.I. Released on $2 Million in Cash Bond and $1 Million in Property

It's freedom for T.I. The rapper is getting a temporary reprieve from prison as the judge in his gun-possession case ordered a $3 million bond Friday October 26th, two weeks after he was arrested in weapons case that could see him jailed for 30 years.

T.I. walked out of the federal courthouse in downtown Atlanta after posting a $3 million bail; $2 million in cash bond and $1 million in property. As of the cash bond, it reportedly came in the form of two cashier's checks provided by T.I. and his record label Atlantic Records.

Claimed to be feeling "great" now that he's out of jail and is looking "forward to getting this (case) behind me and we move forward," T.I. was ordered by U.S. Magistrate Judge Alan Baverman to remain at his home in Henry County, Georgia, except for medical appointments and court appearances.

More Photos of Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal Expressing Their Affection in Public

While the movie they make together, "Rendition," scored low in the weekend's box office, the just out-of-closet couple, Jake Gyllenhaal and Reese Witherspoon, keeps their romance on the highest heat ever. And here we present you more details on their time together while sightseeing in Rome over the weekend, plus more of their photos.

Jake and Reese, according to Justjared.buzznet.com, arrived in Rome together via private jet, checked into their hotel and then went for a romantic stroll through the capital city of Italy. Together the pair took in the sights of some interesting and historical places in Rome, including the Piazza Campo de Fiori, the Giordano Bruno Statue, the Museum of Rome, the Piazza Pasquino and Piazza Navona.

Orlando Bloom Cleared of Charges in Car Crash

No charges in Orlando Bloom crash, it has been confirmed.

Los Angeles officials have on Friday October 26th cleared the movie hunk of hit-and-run and drunken driving charges stemmed from an October 12th car crash that injured his two passengers.

Jane Robison, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles District Attorney's office, said it will not prosecute Bloom because of "insufficient evidence." "There was insufficient evidence he was trying to get away," Robison said in a statement.

In the D.A.'s Charge Evaluation Worksheet, it is stated that Bloom was being chased by paparazzi in four cars, two of which tried to cut him off. It said that after the wreck, Bloom walked about 60 feet (20 meters) to avoid photographers before then returned to the crash scene.

Britney Spears' Custody Bid Has Been Put on Hold Until Next Week

Britney Spears' bid for custody of her two young sons with former husband Kevin Federline has been put on hold.

The former couple was there at the courtroom Friday October 26th for the next hearing of their custody battle of sons Sean Preston and Jayden James. Sad to say that the pair will have to wait couple more days to have the issue finally comes to an official end.

While little we can report about the closed hearing, K-Fed's lawyer Mark Vincent Kaplan told reporters after the hearing that Superior Court Commissioner Scott Gordon was expected to issue a written ruling by next Tuesday October 30th after hearing extensive testimony on a number of issues in the case.

Spears herself remained tight-lipped after the hearing, whereas her attorney Sorrell Trope simply told reporters, "something has changed, but I can't say what."
